Comments welcome on this guest blog post presenting two contrasting examples of social media in sports marketing. The Arsenal football club censor fans by closing down their chat forum because of criticism of the team and manager v. the NJD example of passing social media control to the fans.
This week in Asian sports there is Olympics news, broadcast deals in Spanish soccer as well as new sponsorships in Chinese rugby and Malaysian football.
South Korea’s PyeongChang 2018 winter Olympics bid received a donation of US$90,000 from local energy supplier Gangwon City Gas.About 60 companies are participating as official sponsors through corporate marketing activities to boost nationwide support in South Korea’s bid for the Games.
