Remember Oregon Trail? In the original game you had to buy a wagon, oxen and some supplies and travel from the Mississippi to the Pacific Ocean--hunting, fording rivers, and surviving sickness along the way. It was a fun game...but a lot of people forgot about it once games went 3D.
Thanks to Facebook, Oregon Trail has been resurrected in the form of a FB app. There are currently over 111,700 active daily users, and I must confess that I have been one of them the last few days. The game itself really hasn't changed--graphics are still about the same, and all you do it click the mouse to "play." But it has a great viral aspect--you can invite your friends and play with (or against) them. If you're feeling mean you can steal their supplies and if you're feeling nice you can heal them when they have severe depression or other illnesses.
This is a great example of a FB app- a game that is easy to play, fun, and involves your friends.
Are there any examples of teams/leagues who have created game-like apps that are fun and involving?
