Re-thinking sports marketing now that fans are in charge

Glad to join SportsMarketing 2.0

Thanks, Pat, for pulling this together and accepting me. As for background, my company, ThePort Network, powers sophisticated social media communities in media, sports and associations. About a month ago, we went live with FalconsLIFE for the Atlanta Falcons. Hopefully, FalconsLIFE has helped Falcons fans weather a crazy few weeks and crazy season. We have over 30,000 people in the community so something is connecting. I look forward to participating in this community of people on the cutting edge of sports media. An exciting time to be in this industry.

30K people in a month?! Wow, that is amazing. How did you promote the site?

We imported the Falcons old message board system right into the social community. This way the Falcons could start their community with their most passionate fans already already as members, with a profile page, their historical post counts, everything they were using before. I'm not sure this has been done before, but ThePort did a nice job pulling it all together. Please let me know if you have any further questions or want to talk further.
