Re-thinking sports marketing now that fans are in charge

Case Studies: Getting to the heart of what Breweries, Restaurants and Telco's want from their sports sponsorships

Hey All,

Just wanted to start a quick thread about case studies of integrated marketing programs for the most avid sponsors of sports. We've been evangelizing with Broadcasters, Sports Teams, Sponsors and Telcos simultaneously to bring to market integrated sponsor opportunities that take advantage of new media. Hopefully this experience in herding cats will provide some interesting food for thought for:

1. Brands wishing they could understand how to get their sponsorships working.
2. Broadcasters wanting to explore integrated interactive features that get their sponsors smiling and engage their audiences.
3. Telcos who are banging their heads against all of the above to feature mobile services with the content they are sponsoring.

Here are 3 great current examples of ours that we will reference on the "Engaging" panel. Have a look at the live sites listed below, and the screen grabs for more info. I encourage others to post here to provide a platform for our discussions in New York:

Bud Light Live: TV audiences play along live on-line with NHL action on TSN, brought to you Bud Light.

SENS PlayAction, brought to you by Bell: Fans wherever they are play along live with the action on their mobile phones for the chance to win prizes.

BUD SuperBowl Contest: Text BP to 24365 to enter a trip for 2 to the Pro Bowl. This is a simple text contest that we are running to activate a Breweries trade dollars at a 270 restaurant chain in Canada. Sorry guys, only open to Canadian citizens.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

NBA Fan Voice currently has a contest with Midway: http://www.nba.com/nbaballers/

Users are invited to submit artfully edited photos of their favorite players. The NBA community managers listen very closely to their users and what they like; not surprisingly, this idea's been really well-received by the fans, and it adds a nice sense of the personality of the community.
